From police reports dated March. 22 through April 4

The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 precinct of the Atlanta

Police Department from its records and is presumed to be accurate.

Kidnapping

3700 block of Peachtree Road—On March 26, a kidnapping was reported after a resident discovered a man with a shotgun in the upstairs part of a house. The man with a shotgun tied the resident up and took his wallet, cellphone and the keys to his truck. A second resident encountered the armed intruder while he was downstairs on a cellphone talking to his son. The intruder took the man’s cellphone, but did not terminate the call, and ordered him at gunpoint inside his grey BMW to drive to Windsor Parkway. While at the location, the kidnapper demanded the man’s wallet and ordered him out the car.

The man tied up at the house was able to cut himself free and he ran to a neighbor’s house to phone 911. The wife of the kidnapped man also called 911 after her son, who was on the phone at the time his father was being kidnapped, told her what was happening. The kidnapper fled the scene, taking a wallet and the car. He returned the man’s license when the man asked him to. The car was later recovered at Windsor Parkway at Northway Drive, after a neighbor discovered the car parked at the location. The wallet, cash, car and keys were returned to owner.

Robbery

2000 block of Peachtree Road—On March 22, officers were dispatched to a report of a person screaming outside an apartment complex. A man came out of the bushes and demanded money from a woman, who was walking her dog. The man slashed the woman’s arm with a knife. She began screaming and running toward the front of the building, while yelling, “I don’t have any money.” The man was last seen jumping the fence and fleeing toward the Brookwood Valley Apartments. Emergency Medical Services arrived to treat the woman’s cuts.

2600 block of Lenox Road—On March 23, a man carjacked a woman who was in her car at a security gate near a condo. The man pointed a gun at her and demanded, “Give me your purse and phone.” Then he demanded, “Give me everything and get out of the vehicle.” When she got out of her Nissan, the man left in it headed toward Buford Highway. An Apple iPhone and a purse that contained an ID and credit cards were taken.

1300 block of Northside Drive—On March 31, a strong-arm robbery of a pedestrian was reported. A woman returned to a residence after being struck. Once inside the residence, the suspect locked the woman and a friend inside. When the woman began screaming, the suspect tackled and began striking her. While inside, the suspect again locked the door and demanded both cellphones and took $500. As the two victims were leaving, the suspect grabbed a purse and pulled the woman down. At some point, one of the victims was able to retrieve her cellphone back from the suspect. The suspect and friend were not on scene when patrol units arrived.

100 block of West Wieuca Road—On April 3, a man met two women at a club and they returned to his residence. He awoke to the women going through the belongings in his closet. As the women ran, he attempted to chase after them, but one woman pushed him down a flight of stairs. Three wallets and three watches were taken. When police arrived, they found the man lying on the floor in a pool of blood. The master bedroom back door had been left open. Police believe the women exited using the garage.

Aggravated Assault

1100 block of Huff Road—On March 25, a woman’s grandfather threw a license plate at her and spit on her when the two fought over a vehicle purchase.

1100 block of Huff Road—On March 25, a man attempted to stab another man with a knife, after both men and a woman had been fighting. Before the attempted stabbing, the man asked the attacker if he had a problem with him. That’s when he pulled a knife and tried to stab the man in the chest. The woman who had been fighting with the men emerged from around the corner with a machete-style knife. She charged at the man who had almost been stabbed. After a security guard pulled him away, the victim fled to safety. The man and woman suspects fled the scene in a white Audi.

1900 block of Piedmont Road—On March 28, someone hit a man in the head with the butt of a weapon and took his wallet. The man had a noticeable injury to his head and he complained of neck pain. He needed the police offer’s help to stand. He was taken to Grady for further treatment, and when police interviewed him the following day, he realized his car keys and car were stolen from the hotel parking lot.

3400 block of Kingsboro Road—On April 3, a witness entered a parking lot and saw someone moving the cameras inside the parking lot. After the witness questioned the man about being on the property, the man attempted to run. The witness tried to stop him. The man head-butted the witness and stabbed him in the hand with an unknown object. A neighbor and the witness chased the man into the parking lot at Lenox Mall, where they encountered a security officer and an off-duty Atlanta police officer. The man was arrested.

The man who was arrested has committed several thefts from autos at the mall.Flyers were put up warning the residents. The knife was never recovered. When the man was searched, spark plugs, which are known for the use of breaking windows, were recovered in his pockets.

Residential Burglary

1400 block of West Paces Ferry Road—On March 23, the front door lock was damaged and a black Panasonic TV, an HP laptop, a Samsung tablet, leather case, gold Movado watch, diamond engagement ring, two Gucci purses, a box of broken gold, a Russian gold ring with red stones, a blue Opal ring with a diamond, a gold chain with amethyst, a gold bracelet, a large blue Topaz stone ring and five pairs of gold earrings were taken.

3400 block of Tuxedo Road—On March 26, a home under construction was found with its gate lock missing. Stolen items included a box of steel plates, eight bundles of 14/2 speaker wires, two boxes of speaker wire, two Origin Acoustic LCR 68 speakers, two Origin Acoustics LCR 68 speaker with 8-foot ladder and HVS inside and one bag of Milwaukee drills and batteries for the Acoustic LCR 68 speaker.

1900 block of Northside Drive—A burglary of a house was reported. The door lock was damaged and glass broken. A GE Profile stovetop was taken.

200 block of Colonial Homes Drive—An apartment’s front door was kicked in and a rear door was found open. A pair of Gucci gym shoes was taken. On March 28, another apartment was burglarized and a front door was kicked in and several drawers and cabinets were opened. A tablet and an Apple iPad were taken. The resident could not determine if other items were removed from the drawers.

100 block of Peachtree Valley Road—Burglaries were reported at two apartment units. The first had its front door forced open, but nothing was taken. In a second apartment unit, a Reed and Barton silverware set, a Rolex watch, a Colt .38 Special 5-shot revolver, four men’s gold rings and a luxury watch were taken.

700 block of Antione Street—On March 27, patrol units responded to an audible alarm at a house. A witness reported seeing two men in a red Buick sedan carrying a TV and fleeing at a high rate of speed toward Howell Mill Road. A 50-inch TV, a Dell Latitude laptop and a Vizio 42-inch TV were taken. A neighbor recalled seeing a young woman sitting on the residents’ stairs on Feb. 22; he asked the man to leave the house.

3400 block of Alexander Road—On March 28, a front door and its framing were damaged. Someone entered and opened several drawers. A 13-inch MacBook Pro laptop, a black Lenovo Think Pad laptop, an Apple iPhone 4, a Cartier Steel 21 Mustde wrist watch and a jewelry box containing several pieces of jewelry were taken.

3400 block of Kingsboro Road—Someone kicked in the front door to an apartment, but no items were taken.

3200 block of Lenox Road—The front door of an apartment was kicked in and a Dell touchscreen desktop, a Mexico Consular ID card, a Michael Kors wallet, a Galaxy tablet, a Farenheight touchscreen, an HP laptop, a Jump Start All-n-One, a Galaxy Note 2, a Levi’s bag, a Versace wallet and an Xbox were taken. The resident said someone knocked on his door last week and then left. Kids in the neighborhood saw someone sitting in a vehicle watching residents come and go.

1900 block of Piedmont Circle—An LG laptop, a Lifeline cell phone and a Metro PCS cellphone were taken from an apartment.

400 block of Armour Drive—A front door was kicked in. The resident was inside at the time and heard three “gentle” knocks at the door, then saw a man kicking in the front door. When the resident screamed, the man ran off.

2000 block of Monroe Place—An apartment door was forced open, and someone rummaged through the bedroom, scattered items about the living room floor and went through a suitcase. An LG Smart TV, a black Xbox 360, a black router, $900 in currency and two watches were taken. A second apartment unit in the same complex was burglarized after a front door frame was damaged. A Samsung TV, a Toshiba satellite, a Jawbone speaker box, six wrist watches, assorted designer clothing and assorted jewelry were taken from that apartment.

Commercial Burglary

100 block of Collier Road—Someone damaged a door that lead to a suite in a hospital. A hard drive and a monitor were taken from an office.

1800 block of Forrest Street—A door to a business was pried open and several stools were taken.

1500 block of Northside Drive—Three Lenovo T430 Think Pads, two Apple Mac Books and $500 in currency was taken.

Auto Theft

3100 block of Howell Mill Road—A white 1997 Dodge Caravan was reported stolen from a parking lot. Video surveillance captured the suspects entering the parking area, getting out of the car they drove in with and forcing entry to the victim’s vehicle.

4100 block of Northside Parkway—A black 2010 Audi A6 was reported stolen from the parking lot of a high school. The owner left a spare key underneath the front seat.

4600 block of Tall Pines Drive—A gray 1987 Buick Electra Park Avenue was reported stolen from the driveway of the owner’s residence.

4300 block of Powers Ferry Road—A white 2014 Mercedes Benz ML350 and Black Audi A6 were reported stolen from a restaurant parking lot. Five men in a stolen Hyundai Sonata pulled into the parking lot and asked about the price of valet parking. They then removed three sets of vehicle keys and left the location with two of the three vehicles. The owner of the Mercedes activated the tracking app and the vehicles, suspect vehicle and suspects were tracked to 280 Richardson Street. Two of the three suspects were located and arrested. A grey Range Rover, a black Hyundai Sonata, the Audi and Mercedes Benz were recovered; keys to the Volvo were also recovered and returned to the owner.

2700 block of Peyton Road—An attempt to steal a blue 2006 Dodge Stratus from a parking lot was reported. Someone jimmied the door and punched the lock. The ignition was pried and the steering column was damaged.

2000 block of Bolton Road—A black 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup was reported stolen from a business parking lot. An employee failed to return the vehicle as instructed.

100 block of Peachtree Park Drive—A white 2001 Ford Econoline Van was reported stolen from a business parking lot. The business is currently in the process of moving.

2200 block of Harry Brooks Drive—A gray 2005 Dodge Caravan was reported stolen from a city street.

2000 block of Claude Street–A white 2000 Chrysler Town and Country Van was reported stolen from the owner’s driveway. The van was later recovered.

2100 block of Bolton Road—A report of an attempt to steal a silver 2005 Jeep Liberty from a resident’s driveway was reported. The owner discovered the right side window shattered and her ignition switch damaged.

3200 block of Peachtree Road—A gray 2003 Honda Accord was reported stolen from the parking lot of a gym. The owner placed his vehicle keys, a book bag and clothing inside an unsecured locker while he worked out. While working out, he was approached by a man wearing a black hoodie, who asked if he was driving a grey vehicle. The driver said no, and later discovered the items inside the locker and his vehicle were missing.

3600 block of Peachtree Road—A white 2008 Toyota Tundra was reported stolen from a gas station parking lot. The driver left the vehicle running with the keys in the ignition while he entered the store. Video surveillance captured a white, two-door Honda Accord pulling up. A person got out of the Honda and enterred the Toyota. Both vehicles were last seen headed northbound on Peachtree Road.

3600 block of East Paces Ferry Circle NE—A gold 1993 Infiniti J30 was reported stolen from the parking lot of the owner’s condo. The owner’s son discovered the vehicle missing from its reserved parking space.

Thefts/Larcenies:

Between March 22 and 28, a total of 30 thefts from automobiles were reported and an additional 38 reports of other larcenies, including shoplifting, were made. Between March 29 and April 4, a total of 18 thefts from automobiles were reported and 29 additional larcenies were reported.
