Sandy Springs residents can safely dispose of paint and other common hazardous household wastes on Saturday, May 2, during a special “household hazardous waste day” sponsored by the city of Sandy Springs and Keep Sandy Springs Beautiful.

The event, at 600 Morgan Falls Road, lasts from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be open only to Sandy Springs residents and registration is required. To register, go to www.keepnorthfultonbeautiful.org

According to a press release from the city, the following items will be accepted:  paints (10 gallon limit), solvents, cleaners, aerosols, herbicides, pesticides, motor oil, anti-freeze. cooking fats, oils, and grease. Also accepted: pool chemicals, items containing mercury, propane cylinders, fire extinguishers, and smoke dDetectors. Lawn equipment and bicycles can also be delivered for disposal.

The following items will not be accepted: electronics, medical waste, needles, ammunition, pharmaceuticals, and non-hazardous items.
