This is the second time in less than two years that the parks director position has come open. Kinsey replaced Ray Holloway Jr., the city’s first parks director, who had served only about six months before resigning.
“Jerry has been a tremendous asset to the City of Brookhaven,” said City Manager Marie Garrett in a press release. “He identified critical needs for improvements in our parks, from tennis court resurfacing and a recreation program guide to constantly searching for ways to expand our parks programs with running clubs, youth soccer, kickball and more. Jerry has set the right course for our Parks and Recreation Department.”
Under Kinsey’s leadership, the parks department debuted an Easter egg hunt and a 5K run in Blackburn Park, among other activities.
