According to a Facebook Page created by parents and community members, DeKalb Superintendent Stephen Green changed the testing schedule that conflicted with Jewish holy days.
Parents and local leaders called for school officials to change the testing dates via email after an Aug. 23 meeting at B’nai Torah in Sandy Springs.
“We are thrilled to announce that the DeKalb County School District Superintendent Dr. R. Stephen Green changed the testing calendar so that ITBS testing will not occur on the High Holidays!” the post says.
“It is a testament to the power of the people – several concerned parents who raised their voices and inspired a broader community to take action. I want to thank each and every person who took some time out of their busy days to contact the DeKalb Superintendent and Board of Education.”
