Some model railroad owners in Sandy Springs are welcoming the public to view their elaborate train sets as part of an open-house tour this weekend.

The annual “Piedmont Pilgrimage” event, staged by the local National Model Railroad Association chapter, offers free tours of model railroads inside private homes around metro Atlanta. The event runs during weekends through November.

Several Dunwoody and Sandy Springs model railroad hobbyists are participating on various dates. The four open houses on Sun., Oct. 25 are all Sandy Springs locations. One of the featured train sets runs outdoors through the owner’s back yard.
