NCR Corporation held groundbreaking this afternoon for its new world headquarters campus in Midtown.

Located at the corner of 8th and Spring Streets, the new headquarters will provide NCR with a presence close to  innovation centers and academic institutions, including Georgia Tech. The company is globally known for its computer hardware, software and electronics designed for business transactions.

“Our new world headquarters campus is truly a watershed moment for the future of NCR and the City of Atlanta,” said NCR Chairman and CEO Bill Nuti. “We are partnering with the City of Atlanta, State of Georgia and the University System of Georgia to create an environment that will inspire passion, collaboration and innovation. It’s going to be one of the most dynamic tech communities in the world.”

“NCR’s commitment to Georgia is a testament to the quality of our workforce, academic institutions, logistics infrastructure and overall business-friendly environment,” said Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Chris Carr. “We are excited to see them continue to grow and thrive in our state as a key part of Georgia’s ‘Transaction Alley’.”

“NCR’s decision to build a new global headquarters in the heart of Midtown signals the City of Atlanta’s status as an economic and technological powerhouse,” said Mayor Kasim Reed. “With a $300 million investment next to Georgia Tech, NCR has chosen to put down roots alongside one of the nation’s leading centers of innovation, and in the urban core of Atlanta. Together, NCR, our tech community, and the City of Atlanta will continue to grow and thrive.
