Brookhaven City Councilman Bates Mattison recently was named executive director of the new Brookhaven Innovation Academy public charter school, he said in a brief interview. He will continue serving as a councilman.

Mattison will appear in a panel discussion about the new school’s curriculum tomorrow, Nov. 12, at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia in Buckhead.

Mattison was among the local leaders who organized BIA, which is still forming and seeking a school building. He had served as its board chair.

The panel discussion, “BIA: Deeper Learning by Design,” is slated to run 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 12 at MOCA GA. For more information see, the BIA website.
