Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul visited the Indian Consulate of Atlanta on Nov. 11 to mark Diwali Day, a major Hindu holiday.

Paul met with Consul General Nagesh Singh at the consulate on Glenridge Drive in Sandy Springs and presented a proclamation recognizing the occasion. Afterward, Paul and Singh “enjoyed a holiday tradition–enjoying sweets,” according to a city press release.

Many local residents are celebrating Diwali as well.
