The deadline to submit a nomination for the city of Sandy Springs’ 2016 Humanitarian Award has been extended from this Friday to noon on Fri., Dec. 11.

The award, presented as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration, recognizes an individual who embodies King’s history of character and service. Nominees must live or work within the city of Sandy Springs to be eligible for nomination.

The nomination form can be found online at  A volunteer committee will review all nominations and select the award recipient.

The city’s 10th annual King Day Celebration will take place at 10 a.m. on Jan. 18 in Council Chambers at City Hall.
