A map from the draft conceptual master plan for Brookhaven’s Murphey Candler Park presented at a Dec. 5 public meeting.

Draft conceptual master plans for three major parks–Blackburn, Brookhaven and Murphey Candler–were released by the city of Brookhaven Dec. 9 in response to a Reporter Newspapers public records request. Those draft master plans can be viewed here.

Ten Brookhaven parks are receiving detailed attention in the city’s “Site Specific Park Plans” process and the draft master plans for each park are being presented in a series of meetings that began Dec. 5 and end Dec. 12. Attendees can view the draft plans at the meetings. However, planning contractor GreenbergFarrow said the draft plans will not be available electronically or online for general public viewing until after the series of meetings is over, and possibly will not be posted online at all. Liz Cole, senior project manager at GreenbergFarrow, expressed concern that the public would be confused by the draft status of the plans.

The city released only the draft plans from presentations at the Dec. 5 meetings. Reporters Newspapers has requested the draft plans for all of the other parks as well.
