Midtown is experiencing a development boom that is projected to nearly double the residential population, and add more than 2 million square feet of office space, 400,000 square feet of retail space, and 1,000 new hotel rooms in the next five years.
Fuqua Development plans to build a short length of the Atlanta BeltLine trail near its Glenwood Place project and the owner of the property, which isn’t Fuqua, is to deed the trail to the city of Atlanta. According to a post at SaportaReport, the trail project also calls for Fuqua to extend Faith Avenue across Bill Kennedy Way and connect Faith Avenue to Chester Avenue. The road is to be deeded over to the city, as well. The project involves about 0.4 acres of property.
The Atlanta History Center’s newest temporary exhibit, Atlanta in 50 Objects, will be on display to the public Jan. 16 through July 10. The exhibit is filled with prized Atlanta-rooted treasures as well as plenty of surprises. Shaped by suggestions from Atlantans, the exhibit runs the gamut from Martin Luther King, Jr.’s 1964 Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech manuscript to Georgia Tech’s Ramblin’ Wreck.
