John Eaves, chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners

Sandy Springs’ annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration on Jan. 18 will feature a keynote address by Fulton County Chairman John Eaves.

The 10 a.m. event also will include the announcement of the honoree of the city’s Humanitarian Award, which has been given annually since 2007.

Other speakers include Pastor Henry Bush of Sharon Community United Methodist Church; Rabbi Dr. Analia Bortz of Congregation Or Hadash; and Rev. G. Thomas Martin of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church. Students from North Springs Charter High School and the Spalding Charter Elementary School Choir will participate. Oz Hill of International Security Solutions will serve as master of ceremonies.

The MLK Day Community Celebration is free and open to the public. It will be held in the City Council chamber at City Hall, 7480 Roswell Road, Building 500.
