The nature trail pedestrian bridge in Brookhaven’s Murphey Candler Park is unsafe and visitors should avoid using it, the city announced.

The bridge was damaged by a fallen tree in November and remains closed while the city considers building a new “temporary bridge” as well as a new bridge proposed in a new park system master plan.

“The city is working to get this resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said District 1 City Councilwoman Linley Jones in a press release. “I am concerned about our residents’ safety, and urge pedestrians to stay off the bridge until it is replaced.”
