The Turner Field Neighborhood Benefits Coalition has released its wish list for the redevelopment of the Turner Field property. According to Saporta Report, traffic congestion was the number one concern cited by survey respondents when asked their thoughts if Turner Field continues to serve as a sports or major events venue. Also high on the wish list: grocery stores, restaurants and neighborhood businesses.
The Georgia Department of Transportation has released a critical report of the Atlanta Streetcar and its operations, according to a report from the AJC. The draft report said the city and MARTA lack clarity when it comes to their roles in running the streetcar, many “safety-critical” jobs are still vacant, inadequate training for staff, maintenance issues, and not properly documenting accidents for state review.
Atlanta’s North American Soccer League team the Silverbacks has left the pitch, possibly forever. The team won’t play in 2016 as its struggled to find the right ownership and support from the community. According to WABE, there is still hope that the new Atlanta United team, which will play at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, will create more interest in soccer and the Silverbacks could be resurrected as a second division to act as a feeder team.
