MARTA’s attempt to seek an additional half-penny sales tax in DeKalb and Fulton to expand its public transit system is dead, according to an report.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul were strong supporters of the legislation that would have let voters decide on the MARTA special local option sales tax increase. Some other local officials were skeptical or in opposition.
