Several new candidates for local offices filed Tuesday, March 8, to appear on ballots in the May 24 primaries, according to listings on the Georgia Secretary of State’s website.

Democrat Rodney Stooksbury filed for the District 6 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives now held by Republican Rep. Tom Price of Roswell, who has filed for re-election. As of Tuesday evening, neither candidate appeared to face a primary opponent.

In the Georgia Senate, Democrat Jaha Howard of Atlanta filed to run for the District 6 post held by Republican incumbent Hunter Hill, who filed for re-election. In District 40, incumbent Republican Sen. Fran Millar faces primary opposition from Paul Maner of Atlanta. Tamara Johnson-Shealy filed to run for the District 40 seat as a Democrat.
