“A Stretch of the Imagination, Paintings by Kodac Harrison” opens tomorrow, March 18, at the Decatur Arts Alliance Gallery.

Best known as a musician and poet, the long-time Decatur resident is also a prolific visual artist. He calls these paintings, reminiscent of the “all-over” abstract-expressionist house paint “drips” of Jackson Pollock, “visual poetry.” These stretched canvases, many of them literally years in the making, invite the viewer to explore every drip, rip, scuff, and stroke, all signifiers of a poetic journey.

An opening reception will be held on March 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. and the exhibition will remain on view at the gallery, 113 Clairemont Ave., through May 9 (Tuesday-Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
