The Murphey Candler Park Conservancy hosts its inaugural family-friendly Earth Day Spring Social including food trucks and live entertainment on Friday, April 22, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The event will take place at the park’s existing playground area and paved horseshoe and will “showcase the area’s potential for a premier playground and community event venue,” according to a press release.
Food trucks at the Spring Social will be from Sweet Auburn BBQ, Happy Belly and Flatbread Bistro. There will also be local desserts and Italian ices from Wright’s Gourmet and Rita’s. Beer and wine will be available with music by the local Trey Boyer Band.
Also slated to be at the event will be booths with information on the MCPC Adopt the Park and Playground Renovation Initiatives; the final park master plan from GreenbergFarrow; and the Nancy Creek/Murphey Candler Park Lake watershed study.
Boy Scouts will be providing event cleanup and selling bottled water; Girl Scouts will be providing information on bird conservation education and leading a children’s activity; and Kittredge Magnet School’s Recycling Cougars will be available with recycling education.
