WSB-TV reports that ridership of the Atlanta Streetcar is down 45 percent from the same period last year after a $1 fare was introduced on Jan. 1. Operation costs are projected to be $7.5 million from January 2016 to June 2017, but revenues are only projected at a little more than $588,000.
Atlanta Startup Week is set for May 9-15 as a “celebration of entrepreneurs” around the city. A series of events, workshops and meet-ups is planned including a “state of the startup ecosystem,” panels for teachers and techies panel, building more diverse community and startup pitch competition. The results are in for the 6th Annual Sweep the Hooch, a one-day, multi-site cleanup event in the Chattahoochee River watershed. A record 15-plus tons of trash was removed by 532 volunteers who walked, waded, and paddled at 40 cleanup sites spread over 70 river miles. The largest amount of trash was collected at the Tanyard, Peachtree and Proctor Creek, which are located in densely urban areas, according to organizer Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.
