These reports are taken from Atlanta Police Department reports dated April 3-April 9.
The following information was provided to the Buckhead Reporter by the Zone 2 Precinct of the Atlanta Police Department and is presumed to be accurate.
3100 block of Peachtree Road NE – On April 6 in the evening, an employee of a men’s boutique store told police a man entered and asked about the inventory. The man asking about the clothing was then seen sending and receiving various text messages. He also received a phone call and talked in a hushed voice. The man on the phone then told the employee he was going to the bank to withdraw some money and would come back to make some purchases. As the man was leaving, he held open the door for a group of men who came into the store and pointed a gun at the employee and forced him to the floor. The men began grabbing merchandise off the shelves and loaded up in getaway vehicles. They all wore gloves and had their faces concealed.
3100 block of Peachtree Road NE – On April 7 in the morning, a person told police he was walking to his vehicle with his girlfriend and three men were walking near them to return to their vehicle, which was next to his. As the man got into his car, he told police one of the three men pointed a silver revolver at his head while another man demanded his cellphone. The man gave the three suspects his phone, his wallet with $300 cash with debit and credit cards in it and his driver’s license. The man told police he saw three men in the same bar he was in.
3000 block of Shadowlawn Avenue — On April 7 during the morning shift, a man told police he had parked his car in a grocery store parking lot when two men approached him and told him he needed to pay $15 for parking. The man said he would go park somewhere else and then the men pointed a black handgun at him and demanded everything he had on him.
100 block of 26th Street – On April 9 in the morning, a man told police he was meeting an exotic dancer and her associate. They met in the parking deck and entered the dancer’s vehicle. When the man got into the vehicle, a male suspect came to the passenger window and struck him in the head with a pistol. The suspect then demanded he give up his money or he would kill him. The man gave him $400 in cash. The man drove to the hospital and said he believed he was set up.
1900 block of Peachtree Road – On April 7 in the morning, a man told police he was walking to his car when four men approached him. The men began running toward his vehicle, where his wife was waiting, so he locked the doors remotely. He said one of the males approached him with a silver pistol, pointed it to his head, and told him if he didn’t unlock the doors he would be killed. The man said the suspect then checked his pockets and took his cellphone and wallet. The other suspects took his wife’s purse from the vehicle which contained a cellphone, credit/debit cards, and $300. Suspects fled the scene on foot.
3200 block of Lenox Road NE – On April 8 in the evening, a pedestrian told police that he was walking through the parking lot when a man bashed him over the head with an unknown object. He said another man took his backpack and laptop then ordered him to hand over his cellphone. The pedestrian said he then fled and as he looked back to see if they were following him he saw that they possessed a gun.
3000 block of Pharr Court North – On April 15 in the evening, a woman said she was walking out to her vehicle when three men approached her. She said one was armed with an assault rifle and pushed her to the ground asking, “What’s in the bag?” She said that she jumped a wall out of fear and fled to her friend.
3400 block of Kingsboro Rd. NE – On April 12 in the morning, a taxi driver said he was flagged down by a man for a fare. He said he drove the man to his
destination and that when they arrived, the man handed him $20. The taxi driver said he turned to give the man his change and that’s when the man pulled out a silver handgun. The man pointed the gun at the taxi driver’s head and said, “give me everything you’ve got.” The taxi driver handed the suspect his wallet, debit/credit cards, Metro PCS cell phone, and $75 cash. The man then fled into the apartment building.
3200 block of Lenox Rd. NE – During the morning of April 12, a man said he entered the pedestrian gate of his apartment complex when a man grabbed him, pointed a handgun in his face, and said, “Give me the money,” repeatedly. The man said he gave gunman his wallet and cellphone. The gunman asked the man what was in his backpack and, after determining there was nothing of value, fled in the direction of the MARTA station.
2430 Cheshire Bridge – On April 13 in the morning, an armed robbery, entering auto, theft by taking arrest was made.
1500 block of Chattahoochee Ave. NW – On April 4 in the morning, a woman said she was involved in a physical altercation with the father of her child. She advised that they were engaged in a verbal fight when he got angry and threw a wooden shelf on her leg. She said that when she attempted to leave, he threw a lawn chair at her vehicle causing damage to the driver’s mirror. She said the man then ran away.
3200 block of Peachtree Road NE – On April 6 in the evening, an aggravated assault arrest was made.
2100 block of Monroe Drive NE – On April 4 in the morning, a man said he suspended an employee for poor professional conduct. The employer said that when the business closed the employee pushed him and tried to incite a fight. The employer said the employee blocked him as he attempted multiple times to get into his vehicle. The employee then drew a weapon, pointed it in the victim’s face, and continued trying to fight. The employer then drew a weapon and fired one shot. The employee then left.
3600 block of Paces Valley Road NW – On April 7, appliances were taken from a home under construction. No forced entry.
2100 block of Main St. NW – On April 4 in the evening, the rear glass door to a residence was shattered and a window screen cut and window opened. An iMac desktop computer was stolen from the location. Latent fingerprints were recovered from the window and door and turned in for processing.
1900 block of Main St. NW – On April 8 during the day, a house was broken into through a side window. No items appeared to be missing at the time of report.
2400 block of Edwards Dr. NW – On April 9 at an unknown time, a person arrived at home to find the front door and two windows were open. Cash, a laptop, a 55-inch TV, and house and car keys were taken. No signs of forced entry were found.
3200 block of Arden Rd. NW – At an unknown date and time, the side door a house was kicked in. A dishwasher and freezer were stolen.
2000 block of Brookwood Valley Cir. NE – On April 7 during the day, the front door to a house was forced open. Taken from the home: jewelry, Xbox360, MacBook Pro, Samsung Chromebook laptop, video games, DVDs, and power. Latent fingerprints were retrieved from the front door and turned in for processing.
4000 block of Peachtree Park Dr. NE – On April 9 in the evening, a person returned home to find the front door of the apartment unlocked. A MacBook Pro was taken from the location. There is possible tracking to the laptop.
900 block of Calvert Ln. NE – On April 8 in the evening, the basement glass door to a house was shattered. A Ruger LCP 380 handgun, a chrome Colt Revolver “detective special,” assorted jewelry, Nikon D700 camera, and cameras lenses were taken from the location. The residence’s alarm was not activated by the burglary.
900 block of Lenox Ct. NE – On April 5 in the evening, a man went out to walk his dog and forgot to set the alarm. When he returned home he found his garage door open. An LG TV was found damaged on the basement floor and $1,000 cash, two iPads, a Panasonic TV, a Michael Kors watch, and miscellaneous jewelry were taken from the location. The man said he saw a suspicious vehicle parked in the driveway. He said that it appeared a man was walking out of the location with what seemed to be a TV.
1900 block of Monroe Dr. NE – On April 4 during the day, someone reported a hole was drilled through a deadbolt to an apartment to disable the locking mechanism. An Apple iPad, 58-inch Phillips TV, a Sony laptop, and a 40-inch Panasonic TV taken from the location. Latent fingerprints recovered from jewelry box and turned in for processing.
3600 block of Peachtree Park Dr. – On April 16 in the evening, a woman told police she stepped out of her apartment for a few minutes and left the back door open. She said when she returned she found her Apple MacBook Pro taken from her bedroom.
1700 block of Howell Mill Rd. NW – On April 7 in the morning, a popular donut chain was broken into. The doors were unlocked. Video surveillance footage showed two men wearing hoodies and covered faces attempt to enter the location after the employees left. First they attempted to access the rear entrance but after being unsuccessful they tried to gain entry through the side door. The suspects then got to the cash registers and begin removing money. A store employee said the suspects would have needed a key to get into the registers and that approximately $200 was contained in each register. Suspects then left the scene on foot.
3300 block of Piedmont Rd. NE – On the morning of April 6, police responded to a silent alarm at a nail salon. The front glass was broken. A black Apple computer had been taken from the location. Surveillance cameras were in place at the location and may have captured the incident. Suspects were seen fleeing the scene. Also broken into at approximately the same time were two neighboring businesses where the suspects took cash registers and cash.
2400 block of Piedmont Rd. NE – At an unknown date and time, a man reported the front door was ajar when he arrived at work. He advised that a master key to the offices at the location is kept in a drawer at the reception desk. The man said that the key was missing and all the offices at the location entered. Nine Dell laptops were taken from the location.
2200 block of Peachtree Rd. NE – On April 7 in the morning at a luggage store, the front window of the business was shattered with two large stones. A witness saw a vehicle pull up to the shop and six men get out and throw rocks through the glass. Police responded to the location, but no items appeared to be missing from the business.
2100 block of Piedmont Rd. NE – At an unknown date and time at a truck rental storage facility, an employee reported that someone climbed over the dividing wall that separates his unit from others and stole items. A duffle bag and cologne, valued at $522, were taken from the location. The exterior storage unit door was secured by a lock.
2500 block of Chantilly Dr. NE – On April 3 in the morning, a man arrived at the thrift store where he worked after receiving a call that his alarm had been activated. He discovered the front door to the business was shattered. The man said no items were missing from the location.
2100 block of Piedmont Rd. NE Suite 1202 – On April 4 in the morning at a cupcake shop, a woman told police that she heard a loud crash come from her business beneath her apartment. She said she called 911 and observed broken glass on the ground from the front glass being shattered. A white iPad and $5,000 cash were taken. Surveillance footage showed a man kicking the front glass of the business several times before gaining entry to the location. Suspect was observed by a witness when leaving the scene.
2400 block of Cheshire Bridge Rd. NE – On April 6 in the morning at a mail and shipping facility, surveillance footage showed a male suspect jimmy the side door lock of the location. He then entered the business and stole two boxes containing unknown items.
2100 block of Piedmont Rd.—On April 6 in the morning, an officer was dispatched to a burglary at a hair salon. Broken glass was observed to the front of the business. The suspect took a 42-inch flat screen TV valued at $900. Surveillance footage showed a male suspect throw a brick through the front glass of the business. Suspect was seen by a witness when leaving the scene.
1500 block of Ellsworth Industrial Blvd. NW – On April 12 during the day, the front door glass of a market was shattered. A cash register containing $80 cash was taken from the business. Surveillance footage showed a man smash the glass in with a rock. He then entered the location and stole the register from the counter. A crime scene unit responded to the scene and latent fingerprints were retrieved and turned in for analysis.
1700 Howell Mill Rd. – On April 15 during the morning, the glass door and garage door to an oil change business were damaged and someone entered and took $250 from the cash register. The audible alarm at location failed to activate.
Collier Rd. NW – At an unknown date and time at a hospital, a man said items had gone missing from his office suite. He advised that the location is locked at night and that the only people with access apart from himself were the cleaning crew. A credit card reader, USB external hard drive, and iPhone charger were taken.
From April 3 through April 9, there were 34 larcenies reported from vehicles and 31 other larcenies, including shoplifting, reported to police. From April 10 through April 16, there were 38 larcenies from vehicles reported and 35 other larcenies, including shoplifting, reported to police.
There were 11 auto thefts reported from April 3 through April 9. From April 10 through April 16, there were seven auto thefts reported.
