Brookhaven Councilmember Bates Mattison has filed 11 amendments to his campaign disclosures to fix a mistake that has apparently carried over from his original 2012 filings.
Mattison said May 13 he gave his accountant all his bank records and campaign disclosures for a full audit. He filed the amendments with the Brookhaven City Clerk on May 11.
“There were a few errors on the original balances … and they were carried over” in each filing since then, he said. “So every single report [since the original] had to be amended.”
Mattison said every expense and contribution have been accurately reported since he first was first elected to office in 2012.
Mattison’s campaign finance report filed last October, when he ran unopposed for re-election to his District 3 seat, showed total contributions of about $17,000 and total expenditures of about $24,000, but also a positive net balance of about $2,700. Those numbers were repeated on an end-of-year report he filed with the Brookhaven City Clerk’s office.
