SwnFt8uNFabrefaction Theatre Conservatory announced in a letter and on its website Sunday, May 15, that it would be closing after more than a decade of theater productions.

Christina Hoff, Fabrefaction’s founding artistic director, said in the letter:

“We have fought tirelessly and mindfully for our visionary non-profit. In the last week it has become clear that it is economically impossible for FTC to sustain the quality and integrity of our programs and productions into another season. Because of this, we have made the tough decision to permanently suspend operations. We know that this will come as a shock to many of our biggest fans, and I assure you, we have considered every option. This is the right moment, out of respect to everyone and everything that has led us to this point, to let the name and entity “Fabrefaction” rest.

The company had just completed a run of the musical Oliver! — its 70th show. You can read the full text of Hoff’s letter at this link.
