Atlanta taxi cab drivers took to the streets on Wednesday to protest the lack of background checks for Uber and Lyft drivers, according to a report at CBS46. Cab drivers want the city to pass an ordinance that forces Uber and Lyft drivers to undergo fingerprint background checks in order to pick up people at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. The ordinance is on the Atlanta’s Transportation Committee’s agenda for June 14.

LifeLine Animal Project is waving adoption fees for animals at all of the shelters it manages through the entire month of June.  All potential adopters will be screened to ensure the pets are going to good homes. This $250 value also includes the pets spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. The Fox Theatre has announced the final movie selections for the 2016 Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival. Boxing favorite “Rocky” will screen July 28 and the original “Jurassic Park” roars into the theatre on Aug. 18. Rounding out the festival on Aug. 27 will be Closing Night’s Fan Favorite selection. Moviegoers may vote through June 10 on the Fox’s Facebook page to see “The Wizard of Oz,” “The Notebook” or “Some Like It Hot.”
