The Brookhaven Planning Commission meets Wednesday, July 6, a 7 p.m. at City Hall to consider a rezoning request from developers to build a mixed-use development on Dresden Drive.

The proposed four-story apartment complex with a restaurant and retail on the ground floor is proposed by Terwilliger Pappas for the property at 1411 through 1427 Dresden Drive. City staff is recommending the Planning Commission deny the request. The City Council will get the final vote.

The proposed development has received heavy opposition from residents living in single-home neighborhoods in the area who say the new development would only add to the area’s traffic woes.

Another controversial apartment complex is proposed on Dresden Drive and is expected to go before the Planning Commission next month. MARTA is also planning a large mixed-use development at its site on Peachtree Road, but must receive first receive rezoning approval from the city.
