Permits have been filed to build a boutique hotel at the corner of Irwin Street and Auburn Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward, according to a report from Bisnow. The seven-story, 140-room hotel will have direct access to the Beltline’s Eastide Trail, a rooftop bar, two restaurants and a film screening room.

A state senator and former Atlanta City Councilmember are among those demanding the city of Atlanta collect some $1 million in water and sewer bills that have been unpaid for 15 years from a Buckhead condo homeowners association. State Sen. Vincent Fort (D-Atlanta), former Atlanta City Council member Derrick Boazman and community activist Michael Langford held a press conference Aug. 25 in the front of the Phoenix on Peachtree Condominiums and asked for an investigation into the city’s Department of Watershed be made into how and why the condo’s water and sewer bills went unpaid to the city since 2001. The Urban Land Institute, an international organization dedicated to championing cutting-edge and sustainable development, has nominated Dad’s Garage Theatre for their 2016 Atlanta awards. The nomination is for the transformation of a former-church in the Old Fourth Ward into a new home for the improv theatre company. Dad’s Garage purchased the property at 569 Izzard Street in January 2015, following a Kickstarter campaign that brought in more than $150,000. Other finalists including Ponce City Market, Abernathy Greenway, Waterhub at Emory, Porsche Experience Center, Square on Fifth, and The Office apartments. Winners will be announced Sept. 15 at an awards banquet at the Atlanta History Center.
