For $60, you can have your own Sandy Springs Police car–at least in a 1/24-scale model version.
The realistic models of the department’s Dodge Charger cars and Ford Interceptor SUVs are for sale to the general public as a fundraiser for the Sandy Springs Police Benevolent Fund. The models were made by Duluth’s TEN-8 Collectibles, which specializes in making such model vehicles for various police departments.
The Benevolent Fund supports police officers, firefighters and their families, both in Sandy Springs and other jurisdictions, in times of “hardship and catastrophic need,” according to its website.
Several police officers bought custom models of their own numbered police cars, according to SSPD Sgt. Forrest Bohannon. About 50 of the regular police vehicle models are available for purchase by the general public. To buy one, visit police headquarters at 7840 Roswell Road or see TEN-8’s Facebook page.
