A woman was carjacked in Brookhaven early Thursday morning and the suspects eluded capture after a car chase by the Georgia State Patrol.

According to Brookhaven police, the woman was sitting in the drive-through lane at about 1 a.m. on Sept. 29 at the McDonald’s at 4010 Peachtree Road when two men approached her. One man had a gun and demanded she get out of her vehicle. The two men stole her car and sped away to Buford Highway.

The Georgia State Patrol located the car on Buford Highway and pursued the suspects into Atlanta, said Brookhaven Officer Carlos Nino. The suspects crashed the car and fled the scene on foot and were able to escape.

The woman whose vehicle was carjacked was not injured, according to Nino.

An investigation is continuing.
