Gregory Paul Lawler, 63, was executed shortly before midnight after court appeals failed, as did a clemency plea based on an autism diagnosis.

On Oct. 12, 1997, Lawler shot two police officers outside his apartment on Morosgo Way with a rifle containing armor-piercing rounds. Officer John Sowa was killed and Officer Patricia Cocciolone was severely wounded.
