The Dunwoody City Council approved Oct. 24 spending approximately $200,000 to install a new traffic signal on Meadow Lane at the Walmart shopping center driveway.
The contract for $199,975 plus 10 percent contingency funding was awarded to Wilburn Engineering. The city previously allocated $150,000 for this project with $75,000 paid by the developer of the new hotel and retail development on the Spruill Art Gallery property at 4695 Ashford-Dunwoody Road.
Public Works Director Michael Smith recommended reallocating projected surplus funds from the Chamblee Dunwoody Road Improvements project to cover the additional costs, according to a memo to council.
The new traffic signal will serve the existing Walmart shopping center driveway and the new development in the Spruill Art Gallery property.
