The Atlanta Humane Society has set up a temporary emergency shelter for up to 1,000 animals impacted by what is now Tropical Storm Irma. The 60,000 square foot building is now fully operational at 1425 Market Boulevard in Roswell.

The shelter said it was anticipating hundreds of animals, including many animals from Fulton County Animal Services as their shelter often floods during heavy rain. AHS said it has also taken in animals from hurricane evacuees and are prepared to receive animals post-Irma if needed and will operate this shelter for as long as needed.
