The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that MARTA has applied for a federal transportation grant to fund a 9.4-mile bus rapid transit line connecting the Arts Center station to Summerhill, which is part of the massive redevelopment of the former Turner Field area.  The bus would use a dedicated lane, have 30 stops and a one-way travel times of 16 minutes. The estimated cost: $48.6 million.

The Atlanta BeltLine will hold a Citywide Conversation meeting on Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rialto Center for the Arts (80 Forsyth St.) to allow for review and comment on proposed changes for the Art on the Atlanta BeltLine program. Following this discussion, the BeltLine will  be seeking input on a larger vision as it develops an Arts and Culture Strategic Implementation Plan.

 

Saturday Night Live (SNL) took aim at the cities vying for Amazon’s new HQ2 headquarters in a sketch on the Jan. 20 episode, including a particularly cutting commentary on Atlanta. The city’s traffic, the bombing of the 1996 Summer Olympics and comedian Aidy Bryant’s bizarre appearance as Paula Deen are all part of the presentation to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
