Eyedrum, Murmur, Mammal, and Broad Street Visitors Center are all closed following a fire in an unoccupied building on Feb. 4 raised questions about fire safety in the South Downtown buildings that house the art galleries.

The cause of the fire and the identity of a man found dead on the second floor of the building on Broad Street have still not been released.

According to ArtsATL, Newport Holding, which owns the building that caught fire and the buildings that house the galleries, said the buildings would remain closed until it is determined the buildings are safe and up to code. Newport recently bought a swath of buildings in South Downtown as part of a massive redevelopment of the district.
