The Georgia Attorney General’s office has asked the GBI to investigate former Mayor Kasim Reed’s press office for allegedly conspiring to violate the state’s open records act – the first ever under the law. The investigation stems from a request by WSB TV for the release of public records regarding water billing for the city’s elected officials, including Reed and members of the Atlanta City Council. Former communications officer Jenna Garland directed former Watershed Department spokesperson Lillian Govus to be as “unhelpful as possible” and “drag this out as long as possible” in filling WSB’s request for information.
