The City of Atlanta announced today, March 30, that more services have been restored following last week’s cyberattack that locked the city out of its own computer system.

In a media statement, the City said the Departments of Watershed Management and Finance are now able to accept payments for water and sewer bills and business licenses in person at City Hall. The City continues to work on the full restoration of all online systems and applications.

While some customer applications are disabled as the City works to resolve the cyberattack, business continuity measures have been implemented.

Updated details on available city services are as follows:

Public Safety

  • There are no significant operational impacts to the Atlanta Police Department, Atlanta Fire Rescue Department and Department of Corrections. Public safety will not be compromised.
  • 911 is operational.

Department of Public Works

  • Solid waste pick-up is on schedule.
  • No other operations are affected.

Department of Watershed Management

  • Water and sewer emergency maintenance service requests should be submitted by calling 311.
  • New water meter sales have resumed at 72 Marietta Street. Payment is accepted by cash only.
  • As meter reading and billing operations resume, some customers should expect to see higher than normal bills due to the additional days of water consumption included in the current billing cycle as a result of the delay in meter reading.

Additionally, the following payment options are available:

  • Water and sewer bill payments can be made in person at City Hall by check.  Online payments and telephone payments are currently unavailable, but the Department is working to restore these payment options.  Late fees will not be assessed until all payment options are fully restored and billing cycles return to normal.
  • Customers are also able to pay their bill by mailing a payment to the Department at P.O. Box 105275, Atlanta GA 30348-5275; paying at Western Union or Walmart; using online bill pay through the customer’s bank or the drop box at City Hall, 68 Mitchell Street, Atlanta GA 30303 (leave checks or money orders at the drop box).

Municipal Court

  • The Atlanta Municipal Court remains open and in-custody calendars are being conducted.
  • Reset forms and change of address forms can be completed in person at the Court during normal business hours.
  • Currently, the Court does not have the ability to process ticket payments (online or in person).
  • Failure to Appear (FTA) walk-in Court will not resume until systems are restored.
  • Reset notices will be generated for defendants that have pending cases and will not be penalized during this time.

ATL311

  • ATL311 is operational. Residents and customers can still call and make service requests over the phone and through the ATL311 website.
    • Active service requests include:
      • Trash
      • Recycling
      • Yard Trimming
      • Emergency traffic signals/signs
      • Potholes
      • Graffiti
      • Other Department of Public Works services
  • Code enforcement requests are still being processed.

Department of Finance

  • Business license payments can be mailed or made in person at City Hall by cash, personal check or credit card.  Online payments are currently unavailable, but the Department is working to restore this payment option.  Late fees, until further notice, will not be assessed for payments received by April 20.

Department of Procurement 

  • No significant impacts on solicitations are anticipated.
  • Contracts continue to be processed and purchase orders are now being issued and approved.

Department of City Planning

  • No significant operational impacts at this time.
  • The Department is able to process permits and fees.  They are also conducting inspections.
  • Department processes, including inspection assignments may be slower than normal, but are fully operational.

Department of Human Resources

  • Applications for new employment have resumed.

Department of Parks and Recreation

  • No operational impacts.
  • The Department is manually reviewing permits and event applications.
  • Customers can safely utilize the Department’s online system, iPARCs.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

  • No operational impacts.
  • Public Wi-Fi has been disabled out of an abundance of caution.
