Central Atlanta Progress (CAP) and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District (ADID) hosted their 2018 Annual Meeting & Awards Celebration on March 29 at the Georgia World Congress Center.

Themed “Rediscover Downtown,” the event highlighted the organization’s recent accomplishments, which range from the Downtown Atlanta Master Plan community engagement effort to improvements at Woodruff Park.

After a networking breakfast, attendees were welcomed by CAP Board Chair Rich McKay, who installed CAP’s 2018 leadership, including its Executive Committee. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms greeted attendees, sharing words of appreciation for the business community and lauding former Mayor Shirley Franklin, who was presented with the 2018 Dan Sweat Award.

CAP/ADID President A.J. Robinson delivered the keynote address, highlighting Downtown’s new vibrancy and opportunities.

“It’s tempting to say that Downtown is experiencing a ‘renaissance’ or ‘revitalization,’” Robinson said. “Rather, what I think is occurring is a true rediscovery of Downtown and its historic role in the ecosystem of Atlanta.”

Godfrey, Sr.—were also recognized.
