A body recovered by Atlanta Fire Rescue in the Chattahoochee River in northwest Atlanta late Tuesday evening has been positively identified as that of missing Centers for Disease Control & Prevention employee Timothy Cunningham, 35. The epidemiologist was last seen at the CDC on Feb. 12 and told colleagues he wasn’t feeling well and was going home.

A multi-count indictment has been filed against Mitzi Bickers, the City of Atlanta’s former director of human services under Mayor Kasim Reed, as part of an ongoing investigation into bribery for lucrative city contracts.  Bickers was charged with conspiracy to commit bribery, related to obtaining city contracts illegally among other allegations, according to a report from CBS46. Bickers appeared in court Thursday morning and plead not guilty to multiple counts of conspiracy, money laundering, wire fraud, tampering with a witness and filing false tax returns. She was released on a $50,000 bond.

The owners of Midtown Atlanta gay bar Oscar’s have bought Burkhart’s, the longtime Ansley Square bar that closed in February after a controversy involving racist Facebook posts made by the bar’s then-owner. According to Georgia Voice, Oscar’s owners Chris McDonald and Marco Penna have said they will rename the bar, offer a new menu and bring back regular drag entertainment.
