Atlanta Public Schools (APS) has received the preliminary 2018 tax digest and is reviewing it to assess the changes made by the Board of Tax Assessors and the impact to the District. A preliminary net digest shows a 24.7 percent increase from last year’s frozen values. Local revenue accounts for approximately 73 percent of the District’s General Fund revenue used to operate the school district. APS administration will present information and a recommendation to the Budget Commission at its meeting on Friday, June 22 at 2 p.m. at the Center for Learning and Leadership at 130 Trinity Avenue SW. The Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System has announced the closing dates for seven libraries as part of its ongoing renovation program. The Sandy Springs, Southwest Atlanta, Kirkwood and Washington Park Libraries will close to the public on Wednesday, Aug. 8, while the Dogwood, Roswell and West End libraries will close to the public on Tuesday, Aug. 21, to begin extensive renovation work. All seven libraries began exterior construction work earlier this summer in preparation for closing of the branches in August. The Atlanta BeltLine will hold a Westside Study Group meeting for Subareas 9 and 10 Master Plan updates on June 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Hagar’s Palace, 19 Joseph E Lowery Boulevard NW, 30314. This meeting is open to the public, but is focused on the Westside Study Group area, which includes residents of the Mozley Park, Ashview Heights, Booker T. Washington, Hunter Hills, Bankhead, Vine City, Washington Park, Knight Park/Howell Station, English Avenue, Rockdale, and Grove Park.
