The announcement this week by Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Police Chief Erika Shields to search for any possible DNA evidence to be tested or re-tested in the cases of Atlanta missing and murdered children from 1979-1981 has led to numerous phone calls to the City of Atlanta offering information. As a result, the Atlanta Police Department has set up a dedicated telephone line to receive information that might be helpful to investigators. Anyone who would like to offer information in any of the cases may call (404) 546-2603. If an officer or investigator is not able to answer the phone, callers are encouraged to leave a message with a call-back number for follow-up.

The new 16-story tower that will house Piedmont Heart Institute has reached its topping out at the corner of Peachtree and Collier roads on the Piedmont Hospital campus in Buckhead. The project remains on-budget and on-schedule to open in late summer 2020. The building will be the home of the new Marcus Heart and Vascular Center, made possible through a $75 million donation from The Marcus Foundation, as well as the Samsky Invasive Cardiovascular Services Center. Brett, Louise and Connor Samsky recently pledged $11 million to establish the Samsky Center.
Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has announced that Public Safety Commissioner George Turner will build a summer youth program as his last act in the job. The former police chief has been an “executive on loan”  from the Atlanta Hawks. Bottoms appointed Commissioner Turner in September of 2018, overseeing the Atlanta Police Department; the Atlanta City Department of Corrections; the Office of Emergency Preparedness; and the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department. Since his appointment, Turner has fast tracked his work to include helping coordinate Super Bowl LIII, saw the Atlanta Fired Rescue Department maintain its Class 1 insurance services office rating and helped to continue to make progress in reducing crime.
