Regal Atlantic Station has announced a serious upgrade, including the region’s first 4DX immersive movie theatre.

Developed in South Korea,  the 4DX theatre will include motion-enabled chairs, environmental controls for simulated weather and other conditions, and scent modules, which will be fully synchronized to the movie’s storyline to mimic what the characters see, feel and smell in real time.

Other changes coming to the Regal include the conversion of four auditoriums to its VIP format, offering plush, electric recliners, a remodeled façade and signage, enhanced concession area and a new “arrival experience replacing the current ticket window.

Officials said the cinema will remain open during the expansion and renovation.
