The final Atlanta Streets Alive of 2019 is set for this Sunday, Sept. 29, from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Southwest Atlanta.
The event will connect seven neighborhoods spanning from Cascade Avenue to Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard to Georgia Avenue. The streets will be closed to cars and open for people to walk, bike, roll and play.
ASA kicks off on the Cascade Avenue side of the route at Donnelly Avenue where you can join in the official opening of the street followed by a parade of the route. Parade lineup and opening remarks are at 2 p.m. followed by a 2:30 p.m. parade launch. Everyone is welcome to participate in the parade and free decorations will be available while supplies last.
Community members of Southwest Atlanta helped select the revised route along with members of the Atlanta City Council, church ministers, MARTA, neighborhood associations and NPU leadership, and the Atlanta Streets Alive: Southwest Steering Committee. The revised route was created to lessen disruption to MARTA bus riders who need the transit for work, shopping and going about their daily lives.
