There will be an open house for residents and stakeholders to review the Atlanta BeltLine Subarea 1 and West End Livable Centers Initiative Master Plans on March 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lee & White Street Community Room, 1000 White St. SW. The open house will share findings from previous public meetings before legislation is introduced to adopt the plan. The draft final recommendations focus on land use (e.g. mixed use, housing, commercial services), mobility (e.g. trails, sidewalks, bikes, transit), parks and greenspace in the subarea. Visit beltline.org for more information.
Out On Film, Atlanta’s LGBTQ film festival, has been approved by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as an Academy Award qualifying film festival. Short films that win the festival’s Best Drama Short award will now be eligible to enter the Academy’s Live Action Short film competition for the concurrent season. “We are honored and ecstatic to have the Academy recognize us as a qualifying festival,” said festival director Jim Farmer. Out On Film is one of the three Atlanta film festivals to be Oscar qualifying, joining the Atlanta Film Festival and Bronzelens Film Festival, and one of only a handful of LGBTQ film festivals in the world, including three in the United States.
