The Dunwoody City Council is set to hold a special called meeting on March 18 at 11:30 a.m. to consider passing an emergency ordinance declaring a “local emergency” due to the coronavirus pandemic.

State law allows teleconference meetings to be held during emergency conditions involving public safety as long as notice is provided to the public.
The agenda for the special meeting says the mayor and council will consider “declaring a local emergency due to the novel coronavirus disease 2019 global pandemic and establishing rules and regulations.”
The city of Sandy Springs is scheduled to declare a “local emergency” at its March 17 meeting. The city of Brookhaven held a special teleconference meeting on March 16 declaring a “state of emergency” and temporarily shut down bars, restaurants and entertainment venues except for take-out and delivery.
